Fiona’s Scottish Artists Playlist

On Monday 21st January, my show was dedicated to music from Scottish artists – it was a lot of fun picking tracks to play, and a real journey into Scottish music as well.

The playlist spanned 4 decades, and covered everything from funk to rock, and everything in between.  I’ve actually got enough music to present another two and a half shows with only Scottish artists – and to be fair, we could probably have an entire series of programmes on the topic!

You’ll notice that there are some links between the tracks (e.g. Bobby Gillespie was the drummer in Jesus & Mary Chain, and went on to form Primal Scream etc) – this is a recurring theme on the music scene in Scotland, with some artists appearing in several bands.  A great example is Johnny McElhone, possibly best known for being one part of Texas – he was also a prominent member of both Altered Images and Hipsway.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s the tracklist from the show…
